A’s Match Report​

Hi All,

It is fair to say Saturday was a disappointing result, not disappointing because we underestimated Adelaide Uni, but disappointing by our incompetency in a number of fundamentals.

Following our 103 point over Gaza the week prior we reviewed and focused on a number of points on what we felt were factors behind our results (in past weeks). All of these were basic fundamentals of the game.

Moving into Saturdays game we trained and highlighted these fundamentals.

Adelaide Uni started well, they were cleaner and tougher at the contest while we overused the ball and were defensively poor. Despite this, we had a lead (7 points) and while were playing poorly in a number of areas we felt we could turn them around and get the job done.

All in all, we were smashed in the midfield, out worked, and Uni were cleaner and harder at the contest. Adding to this, our discipline (which is one of our trademarks) was awful and quite frankly unacceptable. That is unlike us and following review the players are now clear on this. I am sure all players are clear on our need to respond.

This week we head out to Henley to take on Henley. I am sure this will be a hotly contested game and we look forward to as many Phantoms supporters attending as possible.
