Match Report below:

On Saturday we took on 7^th place Unley. We knew, going into the game, that Unley were going to present a great challenge, out there on their home turf and playing some good footy in recent weeks.

We had a convincing win against them in Round 3, and we felt that we needed to do the same in this game to keep us in the hunt for finals at the end of the season. We spoke during the week about what we needed to do to get our game up and running.

In what was a very scrappy affair, the skill level was down and it was neck-and-neck at half time with the scores locked at 3.3 (21) a piece.  

During the half-time break, we spoke about our 3 main areas of Skill, Contest, and Connection and how we needed to work through the challenges on the ground which gave the players the information that they needed to dig in and get the game on our terms.

It wasn’t pretty, but we were able to hold our nerve throughout the second half and hold onto an 8-point victory. Phantoms 10.8 (68) def Unley 9.6 (60).

Declan Grant (4 goals) and Justin Whitford (3 goals) were great options for us up forward. Best players for the Phantoms were Todd Lewis, Dylan Morton, Jacob Tidswell, Sam Inglis, and Declan Grant.

It was great to welcome Jarrad Irvine to our side for his First A Grade game. He started the year in the C’s and has worked hard every week and he did not look out of place during the game.

This week we are looking to go for back-to-back wins playing Gaza at home. Gaza are trying to avoid relegation and we are trying to enhance our finals chances. This should be a great game.
